Pathfinder Guide

This pathfinder is divided into four main sections, answering the first four questions a person diagnosed with HIV might ask themselves.  These sections, and the questions they are intended to address, are:

  • General HIV/AIDS Information: What is HIV, and how can I find out more information on the disease and its treatments?
  • Public Benefits and Services: What government assistance is available to me in my fight against HIV?
  • Discrimination Against People LIVING with HIV: Does the law protect me from discrimination?
  • Referrals, Advocacy, and Additional Resources: Who can I contact for more information, both about the disease, support groups, and legal assistance?

In the second and third sections, I have organized information in the following manner:

  • Topic Summary: The main body of each page contains a very brief summary of the topic and relevant laws and services
  • Further Research: within this main body, I have included a sections entitled "Further Research," which describe what additional information and research sources are available to users.  Whenever possible, I have included links to these research sources in the right-hand column of the page.

The first and final sections have been organized somewhat differently because they did not require a topic summary.  Instead, these sections list available resources, with weblinks and other contact information to guide users.
